Texas unemployment rate holds steady

​AUSTIN ​– Texas added 99,000 nonagricultural jobs in March, marking gains in ten of the last 11 months, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. 

The seasonally adjusted ​unemployment rate remained ​unchanged from February at 6.9 percent.

Texas’ nonseasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.2 percent last month. ​The nation’s was 6.2 percent.

Amarillo had the lowest nonse​asonally adjusted unemployment rate in the state​ at 4.9 percent. McAllen-Edinburg-Mission had the highest at 11.2 percent. 

All employment sectors had seasonally adjusted job losses since March 2020 except for trade, transportation​, and utilities and financial activities, which ticked up 0.5 and 1.0 percent, respectfully. Mining and logging had the largest job loss with employment falling 20.4​ percent.
