General Growth Pulls Bridgeland
(Housing : Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown) 6/19/2009

CYPRESS (Houston Chronicle) – General Growth Properties has taken its Bridgeland master-planned community off the market.

The company has "terminated all discussions with parties interested in purchasing or investing in Bridgeland," according to General Growth spokesman Jim Graham.

The Bridgeland community still has more than 10,000 acres and 20,000 homes to be developed.

The Houston Chronicle reported that locally based Caldwell Cos. was initially awarded the right to buy the 11,400-acre development.

Instead, General Growth will continue to develop the project near Fry Rd. and US 290 as planned.
